§02 · Summary

A near decade-long engagement developing and maintaining the digital presence for one of Chile’s largest banking-sector union federations, serving over 6,000 members.

Organization Background

The Federation of Unions Banco Santander Chile (FBS Chile) represents workers across multiple Santander Chile unions. They needed a professional digital presence to communicate with members, share news, and coordinate union activities.

Challenge

When I started in 2014, the federation had minimal digital presence: no centralized website for members, communication that relied on physical meetings and printed materials, no way to quickly reach all 6,000+ members, and the challenge of competing with the employer’s polished corporate communications.

Solution

Member Portal — Built a comprehensive WordPress-based portal featuring a news and announcements section, a document repository for union agreements, an event calendar for meetings and activities, contact forms for member inquiries, and a mobile-responsive design for access anywhere.

Digital Transformation Strategy — Implemented a complete digital communication strategy: the website as a central hub for all information, social media integration (Facebook, Twitter), an email newsletter system for important updates, and WhatsApp broadcast coordination.

Content Management — Trained internal staff on WordPress content updates, created easy-to-use templates for common posts, established a content calendar for regular updates, and provided ongoing support for special campaigns.

Impact

Reach — 6,000+ members with access to union information, instant communication for urgent matters, and document access 24/7 from any device, with increased engagement through social integration.

Organizational Benefits — Reduced printing and distribution costs, faster response to employer announcements, better coordination between union branches, and a professional image matching corporate communications.

Long-term Partnership

This 9-year engagement (2014–2023) demonstrates trust built through consistent delivery, adaptability as technology and needs evolved, an understanding of organizational communication needs, and a commitment to serving the membership effectively.
