§02 · Summary

Technical consulting engagement for Adam Savitch, a professional photographer based in New York, focusing on email infrastructure and deliverability optimization.

Project Background

Adam Savitch needed to migrate his email marketing to Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) while maintaining professional email deliverability. His existing setup had issues with emails landing in spam folders and domain authentication problems.

Challenges

  • Email deliverability issues affecting client communication
  • Domain blacklisting from previous configuration problems
  • Missing email authentication records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
  • Need to migrate to new email marketing platform without disruption

Solution

DNS Configuration — Configured the custom domain for Brevo integration, set up proper MX records for email routing, and implemented a subdomain for marketing emails.

Email Authentication — Implemented the full email authentication stack:

  • SPF (Sender Policy Framework) — Configured the SPF record to authorize Brevo servers, included existing email providers, and set an appropriate policy for unauthorized senders.
  • DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) — Generated and configured DKIM keys, verified signature alignment, and tested email signing.
  • DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication) — Implemented a DMARC policy, set up reporting for monitoring, and enforced the policy gradually.

Blacklist Remediation — Identified blacklisted IP addresses and domains, submitted delisting requests, implemented measures to prevent future listing, and monitored reputation recovery.

Results

  • Email deliverability restored — emails now reach the inbox
  • Professional authentication — passes all major email checks
  • Clean reputation — removed from blacklists
  • Future-proofed — proper authentication prevents future issues

Website Consulting

In addition to the email work, provided technical consulting on website performance improvements, SEO recommendations, and security best practices.
